My name is Lynda Beveridge and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (#3617) practicing in Vancouver and Burnaby, BC. I have a Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology and 18 years of experience working with individuals and families in counselling, voluntary and education settings. I also have the designation of Certified Parenting Facilitator having completed training in the STEP program with the Alfred Adler Institute. I have extensive experience working with individuals across a wide range of challenges as well as with families who have developmental challenges associated with Autism, Asperger Syndrome and Attention Deficit diagnoses.
My approach to counselling is best described as eclectic drawing primarily from Adlerian and Collaborative Competency Based approaches. In essence, this means that we will work together to uncover your strengths and competencies as a basis for making changes or adjustments in your present and future life. To fully understand your present challenges, it is often useful to explore your past in order to more deeply connect to your present circumstances. This approach to treatment is based on collaborative principles with the core belief that people have it within themselves to make positive changes in their lives and that everyone can discover solutions that work for them. Counselling can help to facilitate and support you through this process. I prefer this approach because of its underlying principles that view individuals as capable and the counsellor and individual as working together as an equal and collaborative team. There are, however, other approaches available such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, and Brief Therapies. If you are interested in learning more about them I would be glad to discuss them with you.
If you would like to arrange an initial consultation I would be delighted to speak with you to discuss how counselling can help. Send me an email via my contact page.
